Sat in my chair just wondering how
life takes its turns and twists
then you appear and take a bow
an advance Christmas gift

If the birds and bees are predictable
and ice melts when it’s hot
and salmon swims upstream sometimes
that’s exactly what you’re not

I’m not sure what it is you’ll do
or why and how you’ll do it
but I know what I expect from you

stuff I don’t admit to myself
and like a massage to unwind
you deliver like Santa’s elf
