False Advertising

Friday evening at a charity show
billed as last word in standup comedy
absurd but those who know me know
I don’t understand a bloody word of Hindi

show was advertised in English
intro and opening act was too
then the main guy came on
started feeling like i should sue

husband next to me is laughing
but I’ve got someplace else to be
so I pull out my trusty iPhone
and start writing bad rhyming poetry

a five minute break! Oh thank the Lord
pick up bag and coat and flee
no way out but past the stage
made my escape quite shamelessly
